All the software that runs our websites is developed in-house. Development Manager at StepStone is a member of the upper tier management, reporting to the Development Director and leading between 4-6 Team Leaders, who in turn lead roughly 45 developers. The Development Manager is responsible for a large section of the StepStone Continental Europe product development organization. Responsibilities: Lead development teams: Provide a consistent vision for the organization. Ensure common understanding of company strategy and goals. Establish clear short- and long-term targets. Ensure smooth operation of the organization. Drive performance of the organization. Give feedback on performance and behavior. Proactively identify and resolve issues. Lead teams through organizational changes. Cooperate with Development Director and Senior Management: Implement the IT strategy. Take responsibility for major projects and keep stakeholders informed. Defend business cases in front of management by preparing case studies with relevant argumentation. Manage expectations of stakeholders, provide feedback to key players in the organization, and play the role of an advocate for own teams. Be responsible for headcount, budget, as well as predictability, quality and speed of their organization. Cooperate with other Development Managers and the Development Director in shaping the company culture. Grow and develop Team Leaders and ensure proper succession. Drive infrastructure and process improvement, consolidate vision for the shape of infrastructure (in cooperation with the Architecture Team). Ensure high quality of recruitment. Ability to shape vision and mission for the area of responsibility. Ability to manage sponsors and stakeholders up to C-level. Ability to manage relationships with external providers. High level technical background (infrastructure and/or development related). Demonstrable delivery record, having implemented large, cross-departmental projects with success. Proven track record of building organizational culture & structure. Proven leadership experience with organization of similar size Budget planning and tracking experience. Ability to control and resolve complex issues (such as leading incident task force, facilitate resolution of conflicts between teams). Experience in working in agile environment.
